Kérastase: Keratine Thermique

Kérastase Keratine Thermique is a smoothing, taming milk which you run through your damp hair and leave in to protect while blowdrying. I received this product in one of my previous Glossybox’s but never got around to really using it at the time. Mainly because i wasn’t 100% sure what it was meant to be used for and apparently, googling is too much effort for me!

When i eventually decided to read the tube and realise that it actually sounded great, it became something i used regularly to help with the constant blow drying of my hair.

What does it do?

This protects your hair while blowdrying, smooths frizz and adds shine all at the same time. It even helps when you’re letting your hair dry naturally. The back of the tube also states it includes a heat protection but i’m not sure it’s protection against high heat such as straighteners, more like regular blow drying.

p.s it also smells amazing.

I’ve been using this for the past few weeks, but not after every wash. When i do use it however, it does seem to make a bit of a difference and my hair is smoother! You can purchase this for around £15.00 here, but i’m not sure i would purchase it again at that price. If it was on sale, i’d go to town but i think there are a lot of other products out there for less money which do pretty much the same.

Is there anything you use, which is cheaper but just as good that you swear by?

St Tropez In Shower Tanning Lotion

I wrote a post a short while ago about embracing my pale skin. Before this however, i was all about trying to find the perfect fake tan for the summer in order to get my legs out without feeling like people thought i was the walking dead (it’s true i’m THAT pale!). I was dying to try the St Tropez In Shower Tanning Lotion as all the other fake tans i had tried were not working for me at all. It was either far too orange, far too streaky or far too difficult to apply or maintain. Then, i gave in and bought some of the new St Tropez Tan. It’s said to work in 3 minutes so you shower – lather yourself in the cream, leave it to work for 3 minutes and then rinse off, easy right? So how did this pale ‘un get on with this?

M first attempt did not go as planned. I tried it and the next day – nothing, not even a hint of tan. So i tried for 3 more days straight & still nothing. Was i doing something wrong? Was i just TOO PALE?! Now, i didn’t want to let that experience make up my mind as all the other reviews i had read did say they started to get a hint of a tan after using it consistently so i thought maybe i hadn’t been consistent enough. So, i decided to give this another try. I told myself i would use it for 7 days straight (or until i could see an actual colour change on my skin – i didn’t want to go too tanned straight away) and here is what happened;

Day 1 – First Use

I didn’t really see much of a change the first day except on the insides of my arms. I have a scar from a recent iron burn and this looked like a little line of tan on my skin, so i knew it was at least working on some part of my body! There was a faint smell of tan but not as bad as with other fake tans and that went after a few hours, which was good!

Day 2 – Second Use

I started to notice more of a glow on my arms after the second use. The smell came and went again as before which i didn’t mind too much, it was neither stronger or around for longer. My legs were still as pale as ever and i didn’t notice any change in them.

Day 3 – Third Use

My arms had a slight tinge of colour – not much but enough that i noticed although, no one else did. My legs were still as pale as they ever have been. I was beginning to become irritated by this product.

Day 4 – Fourth Use

Still nothing. Just a faint smell of fake tan.

Day 5 – Fifth & Final Use.

I decided not to continue for 7 uses, because it was too disheartening not to see any change. And even on my fifth use i didn’t see any change.

I’ve read so many positive reviews on this product and seen so many pictures of people’s natural glow after use of this in shower tan but it just didn’t work for me. I shall stick to being pale & (at least a little) interesting i suppose!

Have you tried it? What do you think?

Garnier Micellar Water

I’m a little behind the times when it comes to Garnier’s Micellar Water – i’ve read so many positive reviews about it but for some reason, have not purchased it. I think it’s because i’ve had my Clinique ‘Take the Day off’ make up remover which has lasted me so long! My Micellar water woes were no more when i opened this months My Little Box which contained a small bottle of this beauty which everyone has been raving about for ages! I decided to use it every day for 1 week to see what all the fuss was about.

First Impressions

The bottle is so cute and pretty. It came in the small handbag friendly size which is great as you can take it with you when you travel! The bottle is see through and the detail is pink. It’s great as it’s not too in your face and it’s bottle design is really simple. It’s cap is easy to open and close (which is always a bonus) and you can easily see how much you’ve used and when you’re due to re stock!

Day 1

After the first use, my skin didn’t feel greasy and it felt like my face was thoroughly cleansed. All of my make up was removed, which was pretty good going seeing as though i was wearing Estée Lauder, double wear which we all know does not budge. It hasn’t made me break out after the first use & that’s always something i look for. Who wants a cleansing water which just makes you break out?

Day 2, 3, 4 and 5!

All above days were the same as day 1, i’m so impressed with this product! All the grime and make up from the day was removed, leaving my skin clean and fresh and it caused no breakouts. This cleansing water is great for when your skin doesn’t need a full stripping with water and face wash (as this can be really harsh on skin day in and day out i find) but this makes things so much easier on my skin!

Day 6 & 7

These days i had a good look at my skin to see if i could see any changes. I found i didn’t feel as though i had to wear as much make up which is always great as it meant my skin tone was evening out! Still no break outs either!

This cleansing water is my new best friend. I’m totally sold and now i know what all the fuss was about! No break outs and a very simple but effective way of removing not only make up but any dirt and grime on your skin when you’re not wearing make up! Full size at 400ml is usually approx £5 and the 125ml travel size is usually £2 but boots / superdrug always have deals on so you can pick them up cheaper! Have a browse on Boots here at the moment as they’re on offer!

Dove: Regenerating Dry Oil Hair Mask

You might know from reading some of my earlier posts, that i tend to change my hair a lot. I mean, in the past week it’s gone from slightly ombré to very noticeable ombré to light brown now. I get bored easily & that can really hurt my hair. I’m currently trying to look after my hair as i’ve been invited to a wedding next June and i’m desperate to have longer hair by then. This means regular trims and trying to go as long as i can without dying my hair. So far, i lasted almost a month and a half! I’m aiming for the same timescale until my next touch up.

In between this time, i’ve been trying to look after my hair by using less heat, having a trim when i need too and making use of hair masks. The hair mask i’m currently using is Dove Nourishing Dry Oil Regenerating Mask and i’ll tell you now, it’s the best thing i’ve done for my hair in a while. It’s infused with oils to nourish your hair and doesn’t leave your hair greasy or weighed down. It’s a game changer. I’ve noticed less split ends and my hair feels shinier than ever. It contains Macademia Oils which control frizz and leaves your hair amazingly soft.

I use this every Sunday and give my hair a good pamper before going back to work on the Monday. If i feel my hair needs a quick mid week pick up (if i’ve been using heat more often than i should) i’ll sneak in a mid week bath and give my ends a soak. They always say not to put hair masks or conditioner on your roots but i find as long as i wash it out fully, it doesn’t leave me feeling greasy at all.

You can purchase the Dove Regenerating Mask on offer for the bargain price of £4.00 at the moment from Boots but the usual price is around £6. Who says amazing hair care has to be expensive. Sometimes the best products i’ve used have been high street brands.

Do you have a favourite hair mask? – I’ve heard Lee Stafford does good hair products for those who want to grow hair!

Body Shop: Seaweed Mattifying Range

I have oily skin. The kind of oily skin where i would leave for work in the morning with matte make up and by lunch, my face is an oily mess. Im talking a swimming pool for oil. No matter what i did it seemed to get worse. My skin was never this bad surely?

I took to the internet and some lovely blog posts recommended Body Shop’s Mattifying Range. I paid a little visit and left with some cleanser and moisturiser to try and combat this oily takeover of my skin! I also left with a points card and some free eye cream – I LOVE the Body Shop!

I cleansed my face with the cleanser and removed with a warm, damp cloth. Once my face was dry, i moisturised with the day cream. I didn’t buy more in the range, just in case it didn’t work and i didn’t use them again. I then applied primer, foundation and the rest of my make up and went about my day as normal. I checked my skin at lunch and although there was still signs of oil, it was no where near as bad as before AND my make up was still visible and hadn’t been washed away (which usually happens).

I’ve since realised that applying make up after these products makes my skin produce more oil throughout the day. To give you an example, i went for a run the other week and before i did, i washed my make up off, cleansed and moisturised with this seaweed range. I ran until i couldn’t run anymore (Owain will vouch for this as i ended up sitting on a bench waiting for him) and my face was dry. No oil or sweat or anything in sight. It was smooth and matte and i was completely ecstatic.

I’ve realised that i’m maybe never going to have completely oil free skin but this range certainly makes a difference. I think i’m going to purchase some more from this range and see how it goes – you never know, maybe a night cream would help with oil production during the day! I’ll keep you posted!

Have you tried this range before? If not, what’s your favourite rang from the Body Shop?
